Career Development for Graduates

The National Chiao Tung University International College of Semiconductor Technology is committed to developing high level talents who are globally mobile. The College focuses on research in semiconductor materials, solid-state electronic components, advanced system packaging, integrated circuit design and heterogeneous systems. To enable graduates to seamlessly integrate school and workplace, the research focus of master’s and doctoral thesis is oriented toward advanced research topics relevant to industrial needs. Curriculum design and thesis training emphasize the following core competencies in our graduates, including core competencies in professional knowledge and basic literacy:

Core Competencies – Professional Knowledge
Core Competency 1: Core knowledge of semiconductor materials, electronics, and circuitry.
Core Competency 2: Familiarity with the characteristics of quantum physics and semiconductor physics, and their applications.
Core Competency 3: Professional ability in integrated circuit process and integrated circuit design.
Core Competency 4: Professional knowledge in the principles of 3D integrated circuits, microelectromechanics, advanced packaging and sensing element, and expertise in heterogeneous system integration.
Core Competency 5: Core knowledge in semiconductor critical process equipment (process equipment for lithography, diffusion, thin film deposition and chemical mechanical polishing) and inspection equipment (inspection equipment for film thickness, electrical, and physicochemical properties).

Core Competencies – Basic Literacy
Core Competency 6: Understanding of international development trend in transnational culture and semiconductor industry, and continual increase in competitiveness.
Core Competency 7: Ability to clearly express research outcome as thesis or presentation. Ability to grasp international perspective and achieve international standard in R & D.
Core Competency 8: Participation in multinational R&D teams, ability to integrate information, communicate and coordinate, and fully exert individual creativity.
Core Competency 9: Compliance with engineering ethics, ethical laws and intellectual property rights

With the above core competencies, our College graduates are not only able to pursue doctoral studies in semiconductor, but are also able to pursue employment in the semiconductor and electronics industries. Most of our graduates are employed in the R&D departments of internationally renowned semiconductor companies and chip design companies such as TSMC and MediaTek, and have a diversity of future opportunities.
