  The competition of the semiconductor industry has now largely expanded its scale, becoming an international one. Taiwan is confronting challenges related to advanced process technologies and R&D brought by our strong opponents. To foster our competitiveness in the international community, the establishment and successful management of the International College of Semiconductor Technology of NCTU are the keys.

  The development of this college is consolidated by NCTU’s early
successful experiences of running schools in the fields of electrical and information. Back then, we utilized our existing researches of electrical, materials, mechanical education as the foundation of new development. Moreover, by cooperating with the faculties and professionals in the Institute of Technology Law, NCTU has successfully established an interdisciplinary college of vertical integration which includes the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the College of Engineering (Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering), and the College of Science (Electrophysics and Applied Chemistry). The structure of our future development is demonstrated in the graph below.

  In our curriculum design, we integrate the core courses with the professional program of modularization. By doing so, we ensure that our graguates are armed with the abilities to tackle future challenges. Concrete strategies of this college are demonstrated in the following graph.

  1. Of all related departments, such as the Department of Materials Science, the Department of Electronic Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, we recruit our professors with a joint appointment. Meanwhile, we also aim at hiring international and renowed professsionals.
  2. We welcome international students who are passionate in the semiconductor field. Our college look forward to working with these talents. Together, we hope to improve Taiwan’s semiconductor technologies and the independence of other advanced technologies. In addition, international students will receive English-taught courses and Mandarin language training.
  3. We put great emphasis on the education of patent law and intellectual property law. By improving our students’ knowledge of law, we hope to raise the output value of our domestic semiconductor industry patents.
  4. Combining the resourses of materials, process, mechanical training, interdisciplinary theories and practical training is beneficial to cultivating our domestic elites in other peripheral industries of the semiconductor filed.
